Course Overview

If applicable, students will also receive information about a course induction and directions on where to go on the first day.
This short course is designed to give students an introduction to the world of dog grooming. Students will learn about equipment requirements, workplace OHS, animal handling techniques, hair and coat structure, basic wash and dry skills and an introduction to the art of clipping. Students will also learn about the different types of shears and when they are best used. This course provides students with the opportunity to explore dog grooming as a potential career choice.

Students are expected to:
- Attend 4 consecutive days of training (Wed-Sat for 6 hours per day) with 100% compulsory attendance.
- Undertake practical assessments during face to face class time.
- Complete the knowledge assessment outside of class time.

To be selected for this course you will need to have the physical stamina to handle various dog species and sizes.
Information for applicants
No prior grooming experience is required.
All equipment, products and dogs will be provided.

- Access to digital camera or video camera for visual and audio assessment tasks
- General stationary (Pens, pencils, rulers)

Skills recognition / Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.

Contingent Study Arrangements
