Elizabeth Beattie

"I like how learning at GOTAFE is very practical and hands-on and involves placements. I never expected to find myself at university, and I’ve also only done online learning before. But now I’m full time on campus, with help from the teachers, things are going well.” -Elizabeth Beattie

Elizabeth lives in Albury, but originally hails from Yarrawonga. She first came to GOTAFE to study Certificate II in Animal Studies in Years 10/11.

Following school, she returned to GOTAFE at the age of 19 to study the Certificate III in Companion Animal Services. Now 23, Elizabeth is in her second year studying the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at Charles Sturt University.

This course is unique in that it integrates the Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing into the course, meaning students come away with two qualifications over three years.

Partnerships

Credit points towards your University Degree can be achieved from a wide range of GOTAFE Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, and we’re proud and fortunate to have partnerships with Charles Sturt University and La Trobe University to provide established pathways from GOTAFE qualifications to a number of University Degrees.

Our University partners provide access to their programs to make the transition to University a little less daunting, and you can earn, learn and live locally whilst you study.

Every pathway is unique, and it’s important to understand that credit arrangements can differ depending on your own experience, and when, where and what you may have studied before. If you have studied prior to 2018, we encourage you to contact GOTAFE or our partners at Charles Sturt University or La Trobe to check your credit pathway options.

Tayla Ward

“The experienced teachers at GOTAFE are a great resource. They were able to teach us the course work and relate it back to previous experience on the job, which made the work engaging and interesting.” -Tayla Ward

After finishing High School, Wangaratta local Tayla Ward followed a pathway through GOTAFE to get qualified work as a Registered Nurse at Northeast Health Wangaratta.

Tayla completed her Diploma of Nursing at GOTAFE, where she gained essential skills required to prepare her for her career.

During her graduate year, Tayla undertook placement at Wangaratta Private Hospital , which provided the relevant experience (and credit points) required to commence her Bachelor of Nursing degree at La Trobe University at Albury-Wodonga the following year.

Post-completion of her degree, Tayla happily accepted full-time work as a scout nurse in the theatre department at Northeast Health Wangaratta.
