"I like how learning at GOTAFE is very practical and hands-on and involves placements. I never expected to find myself at university, and I’ve also only done online learning before. But now I’m full time on campus, with help from the teachers, things are going well.” -Elizabeth Beattie
Elizabeth lives in Albury, but originally hails from Yarrawonga. She first came to GOTAFE to study Certificate II in Animal Studies in Years 10/11.
Following school, she returned to GOTAFE at the age of 19 to study the Certificate III in Companion Animal Services. Now 23, Elizabeth is in her second year studying the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at Charles Sturt University.
This course is unique in that it integrates the Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing into the course, meaning students come away with two qualifications over three years.

What is Free TAFE and am I eligible?
Free TAFE is a Victorian Government initiative that covers tuition fees for priority courses at GOTAFE. Eligibility is based on factors like residency, citizenship, and prior study

We offer a mix of on-campus, online, and workplace training. Many courses can fit around work and family commitments, so you don’t need to put life on hold.
If I study at TAFE can I reduce the amount of time and money spent at University?
Yes. Many GOTAFE courses are nationally recognised and have credit transfer arrangements with universities. This means the study you complete at TAFE can often count towards a university degree, helping you save time (as much as a year and a half!) and reduce tuition costs. It’s a practical way to build confidence, gain hands-on skills, and step into higher education with a head start
