"The facilities are modern with lots of industry-relevant equipment in the lab. I would strongly recommend GOTAFE to anyone considering studying Viticulture/Winemaking. The trainers are friendly and knowledgeable. They are winemakers themselves so have practical experience to assist us better."

Why study with GOTAFE?

Learn in time with the seasons

Our courses follow the seasonal nature of grape growing, so you'll learn the activities and processes you need in time with the seasons. Study online while you're working, then meet your classmates at two intensive workshops each year, where you can network, share knowledge, and build contacts.

Real-life training environment

We work with local industry to design courses that will provide you with the skills and knowledge employers are looking for. Throughout your training, you'll have access to the latest techniques and research in viticulture, and you'll have the opportunity to visit industry sites and hear from expert guest speakers.

We have a modern Wet Lab on campus, where you'll receive hands-on training in the equipment used in a professional winery, as well as a Tasting Lab, where you'll learn to evaluate the temperature and colour of your wine. You'll graduate with both a recognised qualification, and the practical experience to manage your own vineyard or become a winemaker in an established winery.

A growing industry

Whether you choose to stay local, or take your career elsewhere, you'll have the skills to take you where you want to go. Wine exports have been on the rise over the last number of years, and sales have exceeded production. Demand for Australian wine remains strong, and the wine industry contributes over $40 billion to the Australian economy each year.

Our students have gone on to work in established wineries and vineyards across the country, and some have even released their own labels.
