Course Overview
This short course comprises 6 units, which cater for both tuition of the LET, LEP, and SWP, and assessment of the LET, SWP, and REL assessments for the Victorian Licensed Electricians assessments (LEA).
The LEA practical assessment is conducted by external bodies. Students need to have completed all units from their Certificate III in Electrotechnology before undertaking assessment for the LET-assessment. The SWP-assessment may be undertaken before the unit UEEEL0039 is completed. Students also require an Authority to Undertake document issued from their RTO before undertaking any of these assessments.

Attendance & commitment
General public face-to-face delivery | 2 weeks course length | Full-time study load
LET tuition
- The module will be delivered over 5 consecutive days at both the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses. Classes will run from 8am - 4:30pm each day.
SWP tuition
- This module will be delivered over 2 consecutive days at both the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses. Classes will run from 8am - 4:30pm each day.
LEP tuition
- This module will be delivered over 3 consecutive days at both the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses. Classes will run from 8am - 4:30pm each day.
LET Assessment
- This assessment will be conducted over a 4-hour period (actual assessment time determined by ESV) at both the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses.
SWP Assessment
- This assessment will be conducted over a 2-hour period (actual assessment time determined by ESV) at both the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses.
REL Assessment
- This assessment will be conducted over a 2-hour period (actual assessment time determined by ESV) at the Wangaratta Docker Street Campus only.
Before you begin
Entry requirements
GOTAFE entry requirements
To be selected for this course participants will need to have completed UEE30820 or UEE30811 or currently be enrolled as a 4th year apprentice either UEE30820 or UEE30811.
Student resources
- To undertake this course participants will need to bring all appropriate Australian Standards (ie. AS3000, AS3008, AS3012, AS4836, Electrical safety (general) regulations), stationary, notebooks, and calculator.
- Those undertaking the SWP-assessment are required to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and safety boots. They are also required to bring their own set of insulated Australian Standard-approved gloves and outers, as well as their own insulation resistance and continuity tester as per ESV requirements.

Skills recognition / Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.

Contingent Study Arrangements
