Course Overview

Learn how to repair and maintain cars and light vehicles with the Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

You'll learn to diagnose and repair issues with steering suspension, and cooling systems, as well as servicing electrical systems and wheel tyre assemblies.

You'll also learn important workplace safety skills so you're prepared for life in a real auto workshop.

This course is delivered as an Apprenticeship.

Before being accepted into the course applicants must:

  • Attend an interview
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review to document previous work experience and qualifications and assess suitability for the course
  • Complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) test to ensure the required language, literacy and numeracy levels are met for the course
  • Please apply through the Apprenticeship Network Provider (australianapprenticeships.gov.au) with your employer to organise your apprenticeship/traineeship contract prior to applying for this course.

It is important that students commit to all course requirements, including study and assessments the student may need to complete outside their normal training sessions.

Attendance on campus is required throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Students will be advised of these dates upon enrolment. Majority of the learning is on-the-job under the supervision of the employer/workplace supervisor.
