Growing up, she always felt drawn to a career in the childcare industry – and now, Cathy is working in it locally.

Cathy started her career working in before and after school care and holiday programs in Melbourne, before moving to Seymour and commencing a Diploma of Community Services (Child Care).

“I studied my Diploma on weekends at TAFE and worked weekdays,” she said.

Over time, her love of working in the early childhood education and care industry has only grown.

“I love the impact that early childhood education has on shaping a child's future,” she said.

“I get fulfillment from contributing to a child's foundational learning experiences.

“I enjoy building strong connections with young children and their families."

"Forming these positive relationships contributes to a supportive and enriching learning environment for all children."

Cathy said while she loves early childhood care and education, there is a “massive shortage” across the industry – but in her role, Cathy is doing her bit to help reduce this shortage.

“Students gain the knowledge and skills required to be the best possible educators,” Cathy said.

GOTAFE offers both the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) and the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121), which are eligible under the Free* TAFE initiative.
