Nursing students to learn in industry setting
Nursing students in Benalla will have the opportunity to study in a new purpose-built clinical setting at Benalla Health from Semester 2 this year.
Following the announcement of GOTAFE’s partnership with Benalla Health earlier this year, training facilities at the health service are now being fitted out for Semester 2 intake, with classes to commence in July this year.

GOTAFE’s Director of Health, Wellbeing and Community Michelle Chiller said partnering with Benalla Health would benefit Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) students.
“Our delivery model is adapting to leverage industry partnerships,” she said.
“By partnering with our local health service and facilitating delivery of practical sessions on-site in a modern fit-for-purpose clinical space, students at Benalla will have hands-on learning that will prepare them for a career in nursing.
“Our Trainers bring industry experience and passion to grow the next generation of enrolled nurses.”
The partnership between GOTAFE and Benalla Health is part of a broader shift to make education more accessible in Benalla.
GOTAFE announced last year that it would establish a new campus in Benalla’s CBD, where students and community members could easily access courses, career advice and job-readiness support.
While the Benalla CBD campus is being built, courses continue to be delivered from Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre (BPACC), while the former GOTAFE Samaria Road Campus is now the home of the Australian Christian College.
GOTAFE’s new CBD campus is now expected to be completed by the end of this year, meaning Semester 2 courses will be delivered at both BPACC and Benalla Health.
Meanwhile, GOTAFE has committed to continuing its bus trial into term 2, with students who study in Wangaratta able to catch a daily return bus service between Benalla and Wangaratta.
