Pre-Accredited GOTAFE Programs
Setting up for success in your studies
Gain the skills you need to succeed in your studies through pre-accredited programs on offer to all students. Participating in these programs, you will learn essential language, digital, and interpersonal skills to ace your studies and step into the workplace with confidence. These flexible and free program runs alongside your course at GOTAFE as an optional add-on.
Gaining the Edge
Gaining the Edge is a 16-week Program that can be delivered at any GOTAFE campus, subject to demand, with a mixture of face-to-face and online learning. At the end of the program, you’ll receive a non-accredited certificate. All other offerings will be delivered at the Shepparton Campus.
All programs are being delivered in partnership with the Centre for Continuing Education.

Program modules
Resilience
Learners will understand what resilience is, and how to develop academic resilience as well as strategies to respond to stress. This module will also explore the concept of goal setting and assertive communication.
Digital literacy
This module covers the basic digital literacy skills required to produce and access the documents required for a course. Participants will develop a PowerPoint presentation and learn how to learn online.
Placement & employability
This module focuses on communication skills, work placement expectations, employability skills, applying for a position, responsibilities at work, interview skills, and good phone etiquette.
Learning to learn
This module covers topics such as lifelong learning, understanding coursework and assessments, and communication skills for studying at TAFE.
Digital Essentials Level 1
Digital Essentials is designed to help learners understand the basics of various areas of technology, including different digital devices, their functionality and the ways people can use these devices to connect with others. This program runs for 2 days per week over 3 weeks.
Digital Essentials Level 2
Digital Essentials is designed to extend learners’ understanding of technology, including the use of different digital devices, their functionality and the ways people can use these devices to connect with others and access services over the internet. This program runs for 2 days per week over 3 weeks.
Step-Up
Step-up is an Adult language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) course, designed to build the skills and knowledge needed to enable learners to successfully progress into the Getting There Program. This program runs for 2 days per week over 10 weeks.
Eligibility requirements
To take part in this program you need to be an existing student at GOTAFE or have an application to study in progress.
