Your training is staying local

More opportunities for students, apprentices and employers across northern Victoria

GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE are part of Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (NVITAFE), bringing together the strengths, expertise and resources of two trusted regional TAFEs.

As we continue to build a stronger TAFE institute for northern Victoria, a small number of courses are transferring from our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) GOTAFE (RTO 3094) to NVITAFE (RTO 3097).

The important thing to know is that these courses are staying local.

Training will continue to be delivered at the same GOTAFE campuses in Shepparton and Wangaratta. The main change is how new students and apprentices apply and enrol.

What's changing?

From November 2026, new students and apprentices commencing the courses listed below will apply and enrol through RTO 3097, which operates as Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE (NVITAFE).

This means you may see Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE, NVITAFE or RTO 3097 referenced during the application, enrolment and training administration process. You may also see references and information including Wodonga TAFE (also Part of Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE)

This is expected and does not mean your training is moving to Wodonga.

Your training will continue to be delivered locally at the listed GOTAFE campus with the same expert teachers.

What's staying the same?

While the enrolment pathway is changing, our commitment to local training is not.

  • Training stays local at the identified GOTAFE campuses in Shepparton and Wangaratta.
  • Students and apprentices will continue to access local teachers, facilities and industry-connected training.
  • Employers will continue to have access to local training and support for their apprentices.
  • GOTAFE will continue to promote these training opportunities and connect prospective students, apprentices and employers with training in their region.

Why is this changing?

GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE coming together as NVITAFE creates an opportunity to strengthen vocational education and training across northern Victoria.

By bringing together our expertise, resources and capabilities, we can strengthen local training, expand opportunities for students and apprentices, deepen our connections with industry and better respond to the skills needs of communities and employers across the region.

Transferring these courses to RTO 3097 is one of the ways we are beginning to work as one organisation while continuing to deliver training locally.

I'm an employer

Employers remain an important part of the apprenticeship and training journey.

If you're employing an apprentice who will commence one of the transferring courses in 2027s, their training will continue to be delivered locally at the identified GOTAFE campus.

For existing students of GOTAFE (RTO 3094) within these qualifications, only students with more than two units remaining will transfer to NVITAFE (RTO 3097). We are communicating directly with affected students and employers about this.

For new apprentices commencing these courses, enrolment and associated training administration will be managed through RTO 3097.

As a result, you may see Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE or RTO 3097 referenced in enrolment, training or administrative documentation.

Our local teams will help you and your apprentice understand the process and any actions you need to take.
