Skills and Jobs Centres

Skills and Jobs Centres offer free, friendly support to help individuals plan their careers, find work, or choose the right training. We also assist employers and community organisations in meeting workforce needs and supporting clients.

Support is available at every stage of your career journey – whether you're at school, starting your career, returning to work, changing direction, or exploring new study or training opportunities later in life.

The services are available to everyone, so you don’t have to be a GOTAFE student to get the support you need.

Our Services

Adult and Community Career Services

Supporting adults to return to work, study, or change careers.

We provide:

  • Goal-focused career planning
  • Training and study guidance
  • Resume and interview preparation
  • Local job market insights
  • Identification of transferable skills
  • Referrals to additional support services
  • Guidance on International qualifications and RPL
  • Specialised support for GOTAFE students and Alumni
  • Tailored support through the TAFE Specialist Employment Partnerships (TSEP) program
  • Assistance to strengthen workforce capacity for regional businesses.

Youth Pathways Support

Guiding school-aged individuals exploring options after school or when traditional schooling isn't the right fit.

Services include:

  • Tailored career and pathway planning
  • Advice on secondary school options (VCE, VCE-VM, VET)
  • Assistance in identifying alternative education or training pathways
  • Guidance for those supporting a young person
  • Resume and interview preparation
  • Information on apprenticeships and traineeships
  • Enrolment support for courses at GOTAFE and other providers
  • Referrals to support services as needed.

Youth Career Advice Service (VELCI CAS)

Supporting school-aged individuals who have officially exited school with an exemption through the Victorian Early Leaver Connection Initiative (VELCI).

We offer:

  • Individual career guidance
  • Mentoring and transition support
  • Connections to training providers for Year 12 or equivalent qualifications
  • Assistance with job applications and interview preparation
  • Exploration of apprenticeships and traineeships
  • Referrals to additional support services, including culturally safe and disability-inclusive options

Schools and those supporting young people are encouraged to refer eligible students as part of the exemption process. For young people exploring their options, our Youth Pathways Support services are available to assist.

GOTAFE Jobs Portal

The GOTAFE Jobs Portal is a free and easy-to-use platform where students can discover graduate jobs and local part-time and casual roles while studying. Local employers can list opportunities that will reach GOTAFE students and graduates, and through Prosple’s nationwide network, potentially students from other TAFEs and universities across Australia.
