The Red Cross Need Your Blood
Red Cross in Wangaratta have put a call out to those with O- blood type in particular as stores are extremely low
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service in Wangaratta are in need of donations, in particular if someone with O- blood type can make a donation.
You may be able to donate whole blood, plasma or platelets. Each type of blood donation is used for different medical treatments, and your blood type determines the best donation for you to make.
The Wangaratta Centre are open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and located on Norton Street, between Cusack St and Ray St East.
If the Wangaratta Centre is a bit too far for you to get to, have a search to see where your closest donation centre is.

Here are some common factors that will help determine whether you may be able to give blood.
You should be able to give blood
You should be able to give blood if you:
- feel fit and healthy
- are aged between 18 and 75 if it’s your first donation, or 18 or older if you have previously donated in Australia
- weigh over 50kg
- have your photo ID or donor card with you
- have had something to eat and had plenty of fluids to drink
