A deep love of animals, in particular horses, is what drove Mia Murtagh to study at GOTAFE.

Mia, who is currently completing a Certificate III in Equine Studies (22513VIC), has been able to get several work placements as well as a stud groom job over in New Zealand.

“I decided to study equine because I have always had a huge love for animals, especially horses and hope to pursue a career in the area. In my course, we learn about the basics of owning and caring for horses, as well as working with horses and the physiology and anatomy of the animal,” Mia said.

"I love this course because it has taught me a lot about horses and the equine industry as well as giving me plenty of learning and working opportunities. Equine studies can be a challenging course learning about all the deeper anatomy and physiology of horses, but I would recommend it."

“Studying at GOTAFE is very rewarding as the teachers give plenty of advice and constructive criticism on work as well as do their best to help you succeed in your course..

“With my course being generally online, the time on campus doing hands-on work is little but enjoyable, the large amounts of land and technology make it fun and interesting.

"Studying online at GOTAFE has allowed me to get my work done when it suits me best and work around my other subjects at school. I hope to become a vet or vet nurse, preferably focusing on horses and doing this course has already helped my future a lot.”
