This Global Accessibility Awareness Day (May 18), GOTAFE is encouraging you to talk, think and learn about digital accessibility and inclusion.

Did you know that over 1 billion people worldwide cannot access or use information on websites without accessibility in mind?

To support our staff, students and GOTAFE website users, we have implemented a digital accessibility tool, Recite Me, across our website and student learning system, goLearn.

"The new features on go Learn are a great resource for students that may need that little extra support or assistance."

Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) student Belinda Pelly

“The beauty of this is that it is user friendly and very accessible.”

The Recite Me toolbar has a unique range of functions. You can use it to:

  • Have the text on our website read aloud (including PDFs)
  • Download the text as an MP3 file to play it where and when it suits you
  • Change font sizes and colours
  • Customise background colour
  • Translate text into more than 100 different languages
  • Access a fully integrated dictionary and thesaurus

“If you are studying something that has a ‘jargon heavy’ content, like Nursing, there are going to be things that you may never have come across before, or even heard of before,” Belinda said.

“The dictionary feature gives a clear definition of the number of words or terms that you may see on goLearn.”
