GOTAFE in conjunction with OUTintheOPEN are proud to present an “In Conversation” event to celebrate the launch of the book “About a Girl – A Mother’s Powerful Story of Raising her Transgender Child.”

The book, written by Rebekah Robertson, is in part a memoir and in part, an inspirational message of hope for those navigating a similar path. It is a thought-provoking and profoundly moving true story. Above all, it is a celebration of family and the values that unite us all.

The event will be hosted by Dr Rachel Richardson and will feature a dynamic discussion with Rebekah Robertson and her incredible daughter, Georgie Stone. Georgie Stone is the first transgender person to star on Neighbours. Georgie and Rebekah have led many advocacy campaigns to strengthen the rights of trans and gender diverse people in Australia.

"GOTAFE is proud to host this event. It is another demonstration of GOTAFE’s commitment to celebrating the diversity of our community. GOTAFE is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and equitable environment for all staff, students and the wider community and we are working hard to embed social justice in our whole organisation. We welcome everyone to attend."

GOTAFE CEO, Travis Heeney

This public event, which will include a book signing and afternoon tea, will be held on 6 November 2019 at GOTAFE’s Harder Auditorium in Fryers Street Shepparton, from 2.00pm – 3.30pm.
