Did you know there are over 70,000 people employed in hairdressing in Australia?

Hairdressing represents the largest segment within the hair and beauty industry and is all about making people look and feel great.

After completing a Certificate III in Hairdressing (SHB30416) at GOTAFE, Kamryn Law made the move to Queensland for a change in scenery and to progress her career in hairdressing.

“I am now working with some amazing hairdressers and get to learn from them and grow my skills every single day,” she said.

Kamryn now works at Mylk Salon, a boutique salon located on the Gold Coast.

Since her move to Queensland, Kamryn has begun reflecting on just how far she has come since leaving school at 16 to begin her career.

“I found it challenging to find confidence in trying new things,” she said.

“I was scared of making a mistake.”

With the support of GOTAFE and the staff at Hey Gorgeous in Wangaratta where she completed her apprenticeship, Kamryn found confidence in herself and her abilities.

“I found working in a supportive environment with a supportive team helped to ease those nerves,” she said.
