In the male-dominated industry of plumbing, Jasmine Weeks is bursting the stereotype.

The female Certificate III in Plumbing (CPC32420) student’s love for the industry developed as she grew up watching her uncle work as a plumber.

“I honestly forget that I’m the only girl at work sometimes,” she said.

Jasmine said female tradies can provide services to customers who may not otherwise be comfortable with having men enter their homes.

“I work in a small town, and we get heaps of clients telling us how great it is,” Jasmine said.

Jasmine said the best part of being a woman in the plumbing industry is proving to others that you can do anything you set your mind to.

"You don't have to always be the strongest person - give it a crack and make sure everything is straight and level. As long as you give it your best shot, everyone is happy."

To other women considering entering a male dominated field, Jasmine has some advice.

“Don't say no unless you think it's incredibly dangerous,” she said.

“Lastly, give everything a crack if you need help, ask for it.”
