Going back to study after 20 years in leadership roles helped Amanda Herezo validate her experience and build her confidence.
Amanda is the Human Resources Manager at CPE Construction, a regionally based construction company located in Cobram.
Amanda completed a Diploma of Human Resource Management (BSB50320) and a Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420).
Both qualifications are designed for individuals who are ready to harness their leadership potential and excel in management roles across a range of industries.
“I had 20 years of experience in leadership roles,” Amanda said.
Amanda decided to enhance her career development with study, explaining she hadn’t undertaken any formal leadership training.
“I’ve done quite a lot of on-the-job training along the way, but had no formal qualifications,” she said.
"Whilst I learned a lot from completing both the Diploma's, it also validated my prior knowledge which has given me more confidence in my role. The saying “you don’t know what you don’t know” resonated with me during my study as completing these courses has broadened my thinking and given me new opportunities for learning."
Like many adults, returning to the classroom was a hurdle in her education journey, but with the help of available support mechanisms at GOTAFE, Amanda was able to complete her studies.
“There was so much support provided as an adult learner, which helped me balance work and life,” she said.
“GOTAFE understand most people completing adult education need to fit it around their busy schedules.
“The communication is good and they are very organised with dates, assignments and classes.”
