Alanna Birch recently completed a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) at GOTAFE, before deciding to undertake further studies with a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121).

“I am deeply passionate about working in childcare to assist in making a positive impact on the growth and development of all children,” Alanna said.

“It is important to provide children with a safe sense of security and belonging in a warm, welcoming, encouraging and stimulating environment for the learning and development to have the best impact on the lives of our future generation.”

As regional Victoria begins to steady itself after the COVID-19 years, cheaper and more accessible childcare has emerged as playing a key role in recovery, with GOTAFE students studying in the field excited by opportunities available.

GOTAFE delivers early childcare courses across its entire footprint, with Seymour and Wallan campuses featuring state-of-the-art simulation labs that reflect the early childhood care service environment.

Community and family groups make use of the spaces, allowing students to gain real-world experience.

"I am so glad I chose to study with GOTAFE to complete my course, they have been so supportive -even during the tough times. Childcare is a great industry to be part of and there are many job opportunities available."

Both the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50121) are available under the Free TAFE scheme.

“Time management and organisation has assisted me the most in finding the time to study whilst working,” Alanna said.

“Whilst it’s important to commit and fit in your study, make sure you allow that time for yourself as well.”
