GOTAFE CEO Mr Travis Heeney has resigned from his role, effective immediately.

Mr Heeney joined GOTAFE in July 2018 following a period of significant challenge for the organisation, and set about resolving and reforming the organisation to a contemporary TAFE that better serves the community of North East Victoria.

During Mr Heeney’s tenure at GOTAFE has seen many achievements including the following highlights;

  • Securing significant investment into the Wallan, Shepparton, Seymour and Wangaratta campuses and introducing the mobile campus increasing community access to TAFE services
  • Obtaining 7-year accreditation along with winning the Inclusive Training Provider of the Year in 2020 and Finalists in the Large Training Provider of the Year in 2020 and 2022 at the Victorian Training Awards
  • Development of the first Social Justice Charter within the TAFE Sector in Victoria
  • Navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic and natural disasters including bushfires and floods and;
  • Improving engagement and satisfaction results for staff, students and employers

Executive Director Education Kristie O’Brien has been appointed as interim CEO at GOTAFE. Kristie will be in the role until mid-October, or until a permanent CEO is appointed.

The Board will act quickly to put in place a transparent and robust public process to recruit a high calibre permanent CEO.

The Board would like to thank Mr Heeney for his service and dedication to the organisation over the past five years and wish him well in his future endeavours.
