The Hon. Gayle Tierney, Minister for Training and Skills, recently joined GOTAFE Board Chair, Diana Taylor in announcing the appointment of Daniel Briggs to the GOTAFE Board.

Mr Briggs, who will commence with the Board in June, is a proud Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba man who grew up in the Goulburn Valley and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).

With extensive experience both in the legal industry and in working with members of marginalised communities, Mr Briggs is currently an Executive Director of Yurringa, an organisation which creates employment opportunities for disadvantaged community members. He also works with local Indigenous business and economic development in the Goulburn Valley region through the Kaiela Institute's Business Development Unit.

I am proud to have grown up in the Goulburn Valley and I am committed to ensuring that the needs of local communities are at the heart of GOTAFE's strategic planning and governance processes. GOTAFE Board Chair, Diana Taylor said, "We are thrilled to have Daniel joining our Board of Directors. He brings strong leadership skills, a sound knowledge of legal practice and governance within large organisations and a deep understanding of the needs of our Indigenous communities.

"Daniel's knowledge and unique skillset will very much complement our Board as we continue to drive our strategic transformation program at GOTAFE."
