Course Overview
This short course is designed for students who have successfully completed the Certificate III in Plumbing and wish to to expand their skills into Type A Gas Servicing. Upon completion of this short course, graduates will have the skills and knowledge required to diagnose and repair faults on certified Type A gas appliances.
This short course is also designed for students who completed their Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services without the inclusion of CPCPGS4022 and wish to complete this unit for licencing requirements. Students who have not completed the Certificate IV in full should consider the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services before enrolling into this short course. Should the student wish to persue the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services after finishing this course the unit may in eligible cases be credited towards the full qualification.
In some jurisdictions, this unit of competency may form part of accreditation, licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.

Attendance & commitment
General public blended delivery | 8 weeks course length | Part-time study load
Students will need to attend according to the selected block as per either of the following:
- Monday and Tuesday (2 days) weekly for 8 weeks, 8:00am - 4:30pm (Practical exam held on the Monday following the last weeks).

To be selected for this course individuals will need:
- A Certificate III in Plumbing, or be authorised to undertake plumbing work by an Australian regulator/licensing body
- Student's with qualifications prior to 2012 must need to complete pre-requisite training before commencing this course.
Individuals will also need to
- Complete a Pre-training Review (PTR).
- Undertake a literacy and numeracy (LN) assessment to determine suitability for admission.
- Candidates will be referred to the Plumbing Department to clarify suitability for registration/licencing as per an Australian regulator/licensing body of the course/unit as gazetted.

- A laptop or other digital device suited for online learning.
- Appropriate workwear.
Student's with qualifications prior to 2012 must need to complete pre-requisite training before commencing this course.

Skills recognition / Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
