Course Overview

This short course comprises six streams, which cater for VBA exam assessment of the CPC32420 for the Victorian plumbing registration practical assessments.

The VBA Practical Journeyman Exam assessment is conducted by external bodies. Students need to have completed all units from their Certificate III in Plumbing (except the UEE units for refrigeration split systems) before undertaking assessment for the VBA exam.

Attendance & commitment

General public face-to-face delivery | 3 days course length | Full-time study load

  • The course will be delivered over 3 consecutive days at both the Shepparton and Wangaratta campuses.
  • Classes will run from 7:30am - 4pm each day. Assessments will be conducted for each stream over 3-hr periods (actual assessment time determined by VBA) at both the Wangaratta and William Orr campuses.
  • To get the benefit from this course, it is recommended that students come to every session.

Entry requirements

To be selected for this course students will need to have completed or currently be enrolled as a 3rd/4th year Apprentice in CPC32420.

Student resources

  • To undertake this course students will need to bring all appropriate Australian Standards (ie. AS3500 STANDARDS, HB39 (code of practice) regulations), stationary, notebooks, calculator etc.
  • Those undertaking the practical assessments are required to wear appropriate workwear (long-sleeved shirts mechanical welding), long pants, and safety boots.
  • Students are also required to bring their own set of safety glasses, and electrical tester (ie neon tester or voltstick).

Skills recognition / Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.

You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:

  • Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.

Additionally, some courses require students to purchase or supply textbooks, kits, tools, uniforms, and personal protection equipment. Contingent Study Arrangements
