Course Overview
This short course will equip students with the knowledge and skills for effective wine service and customer interaction.
Students will gain an understanding of wine varieties, regions, service techniques, and the ability to make informed recommendations to enhance the overall dining experience of their customers.
This course runs two days a week over 12 weeks at the Wangaratta Docker Street and Shepparton Fryers Street Campuses. Students will graduate a step closer to a career in Hospitality, with seven credits that will go towards the SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality
Please note this course is entirely free - there are no fees participants need to pay.

This course prepares graduates for a career in the hospitality industry with many opportunities including as sommeliers or wine retailers, and in wine bars, restaurants, cafes, hotels, events, catering businesses, wineries, and vineyards.

Attendance & commitment
General public face-to-face delivery | 3 months course length | Part-time study load
Students are expected to:
- Attend classes on campus Tuesday and Thursday for 6 hours per day (9am - 3pm) for 12 weeks.
- Present to all classes with a willingness to learn, interact, and build knowledge of their learning tasks.
- Spend time working through course materials as instructed by the trainer if not completed in class time.

All students are required to be above the age of 18 years old to be selected for this course.
Student resources
- Students will need to wear enclosed shoes, hair tied back, neat casual dress.
- Students may be required to wear long pants and a suitable top/shirt during service and industry-related days (during practical classes).

Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification.
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
