We’ll help you apply to the Plumbing Industry Commission for registration. Registered plumbers can choose to run their own business. Owning your own plumbing business means working when and where you want. Work in teams or independently. With commercial or residential clients, big jobs and small. Don’t get stuck in an office working 9 to 5.
Study Plumbing and Gasfitting at GOTAFE and be the front runner for jobs such as:

Work somewhere different each day. Wherever there’s water, people need plumbers. Enrol in the Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-Apprenticeship) and get a head start on your apprenticeship.
We’ll teach you how to use tools and equipment for the plumbing industry. Plan, mark out and calculate basic plumbing tasks. We give you access to a practice workshop where you can try things you might not see on a worksite. There’s no such thing as a dumb question. Your trainers have seen every plumbing problem there is, and are here to help.
This qualification provides a trade outcome in plumbing.
The plumbing industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
The qualification has core and elective unit of competency requirements that cover common and specialist skills for the plumbing industry in six specialist streams:
Stream 1 Water
Stream 2 Sanitary
Stream 3 Drainage
Stream 4 Mechanical services
Stream 5 Roofing
Stream 6 Gas services.
Beat your competition to the mark. Use your trade and business know-how to cement your career as a plumber with the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Service. You’ll learn what you need to apply to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to gain your licence.
Run your own business and employ contractors and apprentices of your own. Gain knowledge and experience in design, installation and maintenance of stormwater, water supply and mechanical services.
