National Dairy Conference Converges on Shepparton

GOTAFE’s National Centre for Dairy Education (NCDE) are set to welcome industry delegates from across the country at this week’s Australian Dairy Conference.
Held at Shepparton’s Eastbank Centre, the two day conference will see 300 dairy farmers, scientists and industry leaders discuss the future of the industry during a range of seminars.
GOTAFE NCDE Northern Commercial Manager, Neil Aird said the annual event travels across the country touring prominent dairy regions and has this year chosen Shepparton as its hub.
“We are honored to sponsor this year’s conference right here in Shepparton. There are over 500 dairy businesses within a few hours of us, many of which undertake our training programs, so we are looking forward to giving them the opportunity to hear from the experts in our field to explore where the future of this vital industry is headed,” explained Mr Aird.
“We are excited to be showcasing our region to the industry.”
The Conference program includes seminars about new techniques and business models from innovative farmers, new technologies from leading university researchers and scientists, and the world’s biggest dairy exporter.
“The Australian Dairy Conference is vital to our industry. We need to learn from each other and work together to build a solid future for us all. I am particularly interested to hear from the likes of Sam and Mark Billings who we have worked with in Western Victoria and Janet Moxey who kindly spoke at one of our graduations a number of years back.”
Conference highlights also include Alexandra Iljadica from the Youth Food Movement, aimed at getting young people interested in food, the launch of the Good Bulls app and Sir Henry van der Heyden, the winner of the prestigious 2015 Rabobank Leadership Award for his contribution to food, beverage and agribusiness sections who will discuss the importance of creating change.
The Australian Dairy Conference official welcome function will be held on Tuesday 16 February 2016 at the Queens Gardens, Shepparton and conclude on Thursday 18 February 2016.
GOTAFE and the industry body Dairy Australia partner to deliver specific dairy training for the dairy industry via the National Centre for Dairy Education. Providing both short and full nationally recognised training courses at GOTAFE campuses in Shepparton, Gippsland and the Western District.
