Kerrilyn Bassett is living proof that it is important to pursue what you love. She abruptly changed careers and began working as a farm-hand with her father.
She enrolled in the Certificate III in Agriculture (Dairy Production) (AHC30210) with GOTAFE and in three short years she was awarded GOTAFE Agriculture and Shepparton campus Student of the Year, Victorian Trainee of the Year and was a finalist for the Australian Trainee of the Year, plus she landed fulltime employment at the Peppertree Dairy in Kyabram.
Kerrilyn relished working in the dairy industry since leaving a career in retail and despite having no previous experience as a farm hand she has excelled in her field and loves sharing her knowledge and putting the skills into practice that she has gained through her studies.
“The most rewarding part of my study is being able to come back to the farm and share the knowledge I’ve gained and help influence decisions on the farm.”
Kerrilyn credits her achievements to the GOTAFE Trainers and the support she received.
