The prestigious awards recognise outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in the Victorian TAFE and training sector. In 2020, GOTAFE was awarded Inclusive Training Provider of the Year, due to its ongoing focus in the development of inclusive and diverse education spaces across North-East Victoria.

GOTAFE Chief Executive Travis Heeney said “we are thrilled to be named as a finalist for the Large Training Provider of the Year. It is fantastic to be recognised as an industry-leading educational institution.”

“GOTAFE services communities from the NSW border to the fringes of Metropolitan Melbourne. We provide more than 120 courses across 11 campuses and support our students to achieve their career goals with hands-on study in industry-focused facilities,” he said.

GOTAFE Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22334VIC) Student, Kai Bucktin, has been named as a finalist for the Vocational Student of the Year.

"GOTAFE provided me with a great learning environment, which together with the support of the trainers allowed me to become the confident person I am today. By the end of my studies, I learned the importance of communication, which has helped me not only in class, but allowed me to make lifelong friendships along the way."

“We are extremely proud that Kai has been nominated for Vocational Student of the Year. Kai, who has shown incredible commitment to his studies, began studying at GOTAFE in 2019 through the VET in Secondary Schools program. Kai’s success highlights the importance of alternative education pathways,” Mr Heeney added.

The awards will be announced at the Gala in Melbourne on Saturday 10 September.
