Enjoy a space that's just for you

The Centre for Koorie Education (CKE) is a dedicated space just for Koorie students. With a lounge space for relaxing in front of the TV, and a computer room for studying or job hunting, the CKE is your home away from home at GOTAFE. We offer transport to the Shepparton Fryers Street campus, so you can come along and get involved in the student community and access your training in a welcoming environment.

Meet Selwyn, Victorian Koori of the Year

After graduating from Mooroopna Secondary College, Selwyn Lui enrolled in a Certificate IV in Community Services Work at GOTAFE’s Academy of Sport, Health and Education (ASHE) Koori campus. Selwyn was nominated for Victorian Koori of the Year for the Victorian Training Awards and continues to help students as a Teacher Support Worker.

Selwyn, Victorian Koori of the Year student
"I never thought I would be working in education, I was never that into study at High School, but GOTAFE has given me an appreciation for study and I am now a lifelong learner.I didn’t think I would ever have the skills to study community services. Studying with GOTAFE and being recognised as ASHE’s Cert IV Student of the Year gave me the encouragement and determination to keep learning and for the first time really value the importance of education."

Express pride and passion for your culture through art

Cultural arts are about more than self expression. It's a way for you to explore your culture and tell stories through creativity. We offer a number of courses in Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander cultural arts, which can lead you to further study or work in cultural arts anywhere in Australia.

Study the Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Cultural Arts (CUA20415) or Certificate III in Visual Arts (CUA31115), and master techniques in jewellery making, print making, painting, sculpture, textiles, and drawing. These courses are suitable for both beginners and practiced artists, and give you the opportunity to explore your own cultural identity and history through a range of different media and artistic styles.
