We know what you might be thinking - this sounds too good to be true. Well, we’re here to tell you it’s VERY true, and multiple studies have shown that students who use this actually do better (source).
I can get free help with study & assignments? Really?
Yes! You can actually get it literally any time of day or night, from anywhere you have an internet connection. It’s called ‘Studiosity’, and GOTAFE partner with them to provide all students with this additional support, so you don’t have to struggle through studies or assignments alone. Nice.
So… what is it? How does it work?
There are two ways that you can get study help with Studiosity: ‘Connect Live’ for one-to-one help in real time, or submit your draft to the ‘Writing Feedback’ service. Both of these are completely free for you, provided by GOTAFE so that you can get the after-hours study support you need.
The Connect Live service works through a web chat. You and the subject specialist chat online (via typing or voice), and you both have access to an interactive white board where you can draw diagrams etc. while you're working through your questions. You can connect for help with writing, research, referencing, foundational maths or biology, and other subjects anytime of day or night, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Some questions students get help with:
“I think I'm missing a step in determining the volume of a tank.”
“I can’t work out this calculation for the stock of medication in milligrams”
“what does this question in my assessment book mean??”
With the Writing Feedback service, you submit your draft essay, or any written assignment and one of the writing specialists will review it and send it back to you with detailed feedback on how you can improve it, usually in less than 24 hours. They give feedback on the structure, language choice, how the question has been answered, spelling, grammar, and more.
Amazing. So what do I need to do?
To activate your account and get access to these services, all you need to do is log in to Moodle and find the 'Studiosity' link. Click it and you’ll be taken straight through to your own personal account. It takes about 2 minutes! PRO TIP: bookmark that page so you can find it right away next time you need help.
But I always leave everything to the last minute! I won’t have time to get feedback!
Actually, Studiosity can help with that too. To help you break your assignment down into mini-goals, and think about how many days you have, and what you will get done each day or each week - they have a quick and simple free calculator tool.
Put in your assignment’s name and due date, and the calculator will generate a personalised plan that steps out exactly what you should do, when, to get it done with plenty of time for feedback, improvement, and to make your work the best it can be.
