Student Spotlight – Tristan Andrew
After completing work experience with a local business, Tristan Andrew knew he had found the trade for him.
Tristan is in his first year of a school-based apprenticeship and is studying for the Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (UEE32220) at GOTAFE.
Tristan said that it didn’t take him long to realise he had found his career path.
"During my work experience, I just really liked the work and knew that I didn’t want to do anything else. I was lucky they had an apprentice spot available, and I jumped at the chance."

Where every day is different
“Every day is different in this trade,” Tristan said. “You are always learning something new, which is great. I’ve found that it really tests you, and you always have to be thinking ahead.”
Tristan admitted that he wasn’t sure what to expect studying at GOTAFE, but halfway through his first year, he couldn’t be happier. “The trainers here at GOTAFE are the best. They just have this way of explaining everything so well. Sometimes at work, everything is a bit rushed, but not at school.”
“I really enjoy coming to GOTAFE. I get along with everyone in my class, and we all learn so much.”
