Post date: 2nd April 2026

A new regional leadership concept will help Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE strengthen local partnerships, industry connections and community ties in 2026 and beyond.

Following the amalgamation of GOTAFE and Wodonga TAFE earlier this year – and the subsequent confirmation of NVITAFE's board and executive structure – a group of Regional Leads have been appointed across the organisation.

These Regional Leads not only bring expertise in different aspects of vocational education and training to the roles but also have key knowledge in the specific needs of each of their respective communities to help NVITAFE's partnerships and connections in those areas thrive.

The four Regional Leads are:

Meet the Seymour Regional lead - Fiona Maher

With 25 years’ experience in the VET sector, Fiona brings a passion for transforming lives and strengthening communities.

“My approach to growing the Seymour campus is grounded in NVITAFE’s intent to deliver quality, learner centred education, embed our campuses in the regions we serve, and strengthen partnerships that support student success and workforce development.”

Meet the Shepparton Regional lead - Cayla Fin

Cayla is looking forward to aligning the focus of NVITAFE’s training with the growth priorities of the region.

“When training is done properly in regional communities, it doesn’t just change one life - it strengthens the whole region. Our job at NVITAFE is simple, make sure local people can get the skills they need for real jobs, right here. There’s no reason the Goulburn Valley can’t grow its workforce and give more people the chance to build a future here.”

Meet the Wangaratta and Benalla Regional lead - Leah Waring

Leah has grown up and raised her children in Wangaratta and knows all the benefits of living and working in the region.

"Our communities in Wangaratta and Benalla are strongly connected and work well together to always be building a better place for our future. Through NVITAFE, I am keen to sustain and build on these partnerships and offer what I can to foster stronger connections to enable our educational offerings to be aligned, inspiring and accessible for our community and businesses."

Meet the Wodonga Regional lead - Chris Logue

Chris leads multiple teams that assure the high quality and compliant delivery of training services to meet the needs of students, industry, and the community.

He has a strongly held belief in the benefits that quality education can provide, which drives him to ensure the organisation meets its obligations under the regulatory frameworks that it is required to meet.
