New apprentice incentives for employers helping to secure region's future
Employers and apprentices will see the benefits of the changes.
Changes to the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System – targeted at creating jobs and supporting the skills needed for Australia’s future workforce – have been introduced for 2026.
Specifically, employers of apprentices training in Key Apprenticeship Program occupations relating to meeting the Australian Government’s clean energy and housing targets – and who meet all eligibility criteria - can now receive up to an additional $5000 across the first year of the apprenticeship.
This is on top of the already almost $5000 on offer for apprenticeships on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.
Meanwhile, apprentices training in KAP occupations can be eligible for up to $10,000 in financial support under the new incentives.
At GOTAFE, courses on the AAPL which also meet KAP eligibility include:
- Certificate III in Agriculture (AHC30122)
- Certificate IV in Agriculture (AHC40122)
