On the day, GOTAFE will be joined by the Hon. Gayle Tierney, Minister for Training and Skills and Minister for Education in the march along Fitzroy Street St Kilda to the Catani Gardens, where the lively and colourful celebration will continue.

Cameron Cahill Executive Director Attraction and Engagement at GOTAFE has been leading the coordination efforts of the TAFE Victoria contingent and says the Pride March is an ideal forum to engage with LGBTIQ+ Victorians and build awareness of their right to speak up.

"The discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ+ people can have a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing, as well as their access to, and experience of, services such as education. Participating in Pride March is an opportunity for us to let the LGBTIQ+ community know we are here to support them to feel welcome at TAFE"

"It is also a great opportunity for our LGBTIQ+ staff, current students and allies to demonstrate our strong commitment to inclusion. I am proud to work for an organisation that is truly committed to the inclusion of all, no matter their gender, orientation, background or barrier.”

Hundreds of young people, often amongst the most vulnerable within our communities, will be placed towards the front of the march as a positive and strong affirmation for LGBTIQ+ youth.

At the conclusion of the march, attendees will be led into Catani Gardens for celebrations and entertainment including DJs and live performances.

Catani Gardens is open and free for all to attend and join the post-march celebrations, you just need to QR code into the event area.
