The Apprenticeship Factory held its annual Apprentice of the Year awards event on Thursday night in Shepparton with GOTAFE 4th year Electrical apprentice Tim Wilson taking home the top award.

Tim studies at the GOTAFE Shepparton Campus and is employed by local business Dowsett Electrical. Owner and operator Bruce Dowsett said “You don’t find many kids like Tim. He shows great initiative and is just always willing to learn and become a better electrician, in fact he’s probably smarter than most of us older guys”

Tim has previously been awarded the Outstanding 1st year Electrical apprentice of the year for the GOTAFE Wangaratta Campus in 2016 and the Outstanding 2nd year Electrical apprentice of the year for the GOTAFE Shepparton Campus in 2017.

GOTAFE trainer Darren Cook noted that “Tim has always been very studious with his time at trade school which was reflected in his above average results in his assessments. He has just been a wonderful student to teach and I congratulate him on this outstanding achievement”

GOTAFE CEO Travis Heeney said “We are incredibly proud of Tim’s outstanding achievement, and of our trades programs which are led by highly skilled and committed trainers like Darren.”
