GOTAFE represented on WorldSkills stage
Students are putting their skills to the test once again this year.
GOTAFE students are taking the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom and putting it to the test at various WorldSkills events across the region and beyond.
Cassidy Roberts, a Year 10 student from Euroa Secondary College, recently competed in the All-Female VETiS WorldSkills Competition, celebrating Women in Trades, held as part of the Trade Tech Expo at the Melbourne Exhibition & Convention Centre on 2–3 June.
Representing GOTAFE through her Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship (22614VIC) course, Cassidy competed against five other students from across Victoria. Participants were challenged to demonstrate their skills by constructing a shoebox project to industry standards.
Cassidy was supported by her Team Leader Matt Wollington, Teacher Michael Elliot, Jodie Gottschling and Fiona Lawrence.
Cassidy’s efforts allowed her to step outside her comfort zone, embrace the challenge, and represent both her peers and GOTAFE with enthusiasm and professionalism. Her participation highlights the growing opportunities for young women pursuing careers in the trades.
Excitingly for GOTAFE students, Regional WorldSkills Automotive competitions will be held on 9 July at Docker Street, Wangaratta.
Categories will include Paint, Panel, Heavy and Light Vehicle and Motorcycle Mechanics.
