Emerging designers showcase works at GOTAFE exhibitions
Art and design students at GOTAFE will showcase their talents at exhibitions in both Shepparton and Wangaratta.
Students currently studying the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (CUA30720) will share their work at exhibitions over the coming month, thanks to the support of the Rural City of Wangaratta and Stellar Cafe in Shepparton.
“A key step in the development of students is building the skills and confidence to show their pieces in public, with exhibitions supported by community partners allowing this to occur,” Trainer and Assessor Dr Jan Donaldson said.
“GOTAFE has a rich history of supporting the development of artists and designers across the Goulburn-Ovens region.
“There are many accomplished graphic designers, artists, and leaders in our industry who studied with GOTAFE and saw their exhibitions as an important step in their development.
“We’re excited for this year’s students to share their hard work and gain recognition from family, friends and community members.”
Final portfolio works created by GOTAFE Wangaratta students will be on display in Wangaratta’s Bainz Gallery from 3 – 31 October.
Additionally, GOTAFE Shepparton students have partnered with Stellar Café again to host this year’s student exhibition - ‘Mask and you shall receive’.
The exhibition will be running at the Stellar Cafe in Shepparton from Thursday 19 September to Wednesday 30 October.
NEXT 24 VCE/VM Student Showcase Exhbition
Paige Boness is a VDSS student completing a Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (CUA30720).
She is currently working on three pieces for the upcoming NEXT 24 VCE/VM Student Showcase Exhibition, taking place from October 3 – 31 at the Bainz Exhibition Gallery in Wangaratta.
“Two of the pieces I am creating are part of a collage project we took part in in class,” Paige said.
One of her pieces is inspired by the TV show Second City Television.
“I was watching the show for a few months, and I got really into it,” Paige said.
“I really enjoyed the collage unit in class and got the idea to make my own.”
Mask and you shall receive
Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (CUA30720) student Sonny Lester is one of many art and design students who will be showing their work at the upcoming ‘Mask and you shall receive’ exhibition at Stellar Cafe Shepparton from 19 September – 30 October.
His paper mâché mask looks like the Monopoly man, featuring a top hat and a monocle, inspired by events in the media, particularly United States politics.
