Inspiring the next generation at Dookie Food and Fibre
GOTAFE is proud to be the Gold Sponsor of this year's Dookie Food and Fibre Careers Day.
The event, held on Friday, 31 May welcomed hundreds of regional Victorian students, providing opportunities to explore career and education pathways across food and fibre industries.
Trainers answered questions about a series of short courses developed with $1.99m Victorian Government’s Agriculture TAFE and Training Funding.
The program aims to address skills shortages in agriculture and horticulture through new courses and enhancements to existing courses.
The Dookie Food and Fibre Careers Day provided students an opportunity to learn about these options before pursuing a pathway of their choice.
GOTAFE’s Coordinator Land Rob Hall participated in an Agribusiness Careers Panel, sharing insights into career pathways and education opportunities across agriculture, horticulture and viticulture industries.
Director Service and Natural Environment at GOTAFE Andrew McGranahan said events like the Dookie Food and Fibre Careers Day allow students to see the many opportunities available in the future of industries.
“Agriculture, horticulture and viticulture are huge industries across our region,” Mr McGranahan said.
"Around 25 per cent of the total value of Victoria’s agriculture production is generated in the Goulburn Valley. GOTAFE is committed to ensuring students are equipped with the experience and skills required to support the development of the region."
