Community inspired at GOTAFE’s Open Days
GOTAFE welcomed over 800 people to its Open Day events during August, featuring immersive tours, meets with Trainers and Assessors, Careers Advisors, Support Services and interactive activities aimed to inspire prospective students.
GOTAFE’s final Open Day in Shepparton on Saturday 24 August at the Fryers Street Campus enabled community members to discover vocational education pathways available locally.
Open Days earlier in August included Seymour (Wallis Street) on August 10 and Wangaratta (Docker Street) on August 18.
Executive Director Student Experience Laura Baker said it was pleasing to see the diversity of attendees at GOTAFE’s Open Days.
“We welcomed over 800 people to our campuses across the three Open Days, showing the strong community interest in pursuing vocational education and training,” she said.
“For community members who were unable to attend, we want them to know every day is an Open Day at GOTAFE and you are always welcome to drop in, give us a call or visit our website.”
Open Day attendees were offered an insight into studying at GOTAFE, with industry-experienced Trainers and Careers Advisors sharing insights into education and career options, through on campus and online study.
Several interactive tours were led by GOTAFE’s attraction staff during the day, providing attendees an opportunity to see firsthand the facilities and equipment and discover aspects of student and campus life.
Additionally, prospective students were able to speak with Commercial Cookery alumni and co-owner of Elsewhere at SAM Jono Chan, getting a feel for what studying with GOTAFE is like.
“It was great to meet so many community members looking to take the next step in their education or career journey,” Jono said.
Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (OMFNL) and Goulburn Valley Football Netball League (GVL) were also present at the Wangaratta and Shepparton Open Days, hosting a marquee and handball competition.
The Shepparton Open Day was held in partnership with La Trobe University, providing access to additional education and career pathways for all attendees aspiring to make a change.
GOTAFE is planning a number of exciting events for the remainder of 2024, keep your eyes peeled via our website for more information.
