Update 5 August 2020

Dear students,

Following the announcement by the Victorian Government regarding recent COVID-19 restrictions, I wanted to update you on the arrangements for GOTAFE students. The health and safety of our students, staff and entire GOTAFE community remains our highest priority as we continue to adapt and respond to the evolving situation.

On Sunday 2 August the Victorian Government announced that:

  • From 6pm on Sunday 2 August, Stage Four restrictions are in place across metropolitan Melbourne.
  • From 11:59pm on Wednesday 5 August, Stage Three ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions will apply throughout regional Victoria.

In line with these directions, a number of courses which had returned to on-campus delivery mode will revert back to remote delivery. I recognise that these changes are another challenge to overcome and I want to reassure you that GOTAFE has plans in place to ensure you can continue your studies and complete your training in the scheduled timeframes.

Your trainer should have been in contact to discuss particular arrangements for your course. If you have any queries about arrangements for your course please contact us on 1300 468 233.

Stage 3 COVID-19 Restrictions

As a result of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire, these areas are under Stage Three ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions for the next six weeks. Information about the restrictions can be found here.

From 11:59pm Wednesday 5 August, regional Victoria will move to Stage Three ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions. The new restrictions can be found here. I urge all students to stay informed about the latest government directives and comply with all regulations. We all need to play our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19.

We are here to support you

Support for our students remains critically important to us. We are doing everything possible to ensure you can successfully progress with your studies during this time. Whether learning from home or with adjusted modes of delivery, access to our counsellors, student success coordinators, disability support officers, career and pathway advisors, as well as our network of trainers will not change.

A number of our campuses remain open with front line staff available to talk you through a range of support services available to you during this time. These campuses include –

  • Shepparton, Fryers Street
  • Wangaratta, Docker Street
  • Benalla
  • Seymour

Campus opening hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday and I would encourage you to reach out if you require assistance. Staff at all of our campuses have strict social distancing measures in place for your comfort and safety and the wearing of masks is mandatory when on campus.

You can also access any of these services remotely, just head to the students section of our website to get in touch.
