As we continue to respond to our changing environment, I am committed to keeping you up to date with GOTAFE’s response to the COVID-19 situation. The health and safety of our students, staff and entire GOTAFE community remains our highest priority as we continue to navigate these challenging times.

I want to reaffirm that there are no current or suspected cases of COVID-19 at any GOTAFE campus.
In response to recent media circulating about a Shepparton student’s family member testing positive to COVID-19, I want to reassure you that GOTAFE made the decision to pause all on campus delivery prior to being notified of this situation.
Once we were notified, GOTAFE took all necessary steps to notify any impacted staff or students and ensure that we implemented precautionary measures in line with advice from the Department of Health and Human Services.
By now, most GOTAFE trainers have been in contact with their students to discuss remote education delivery options and support arrangements during this time. I also encourage you to reach out and communicate with your trainers proactively if you require any support.
Our education team is working hard behind the scenes to develop a range of remote teaching options to support your learning. We are committed to minimising disruption to your education and I want to reassure you that we will do anything possible to assist you in completing classes and assessments.
Student support updates
We are in regular contact with the Apprenticeship Support Program which is a state government program that supports apprentices. There are a number of support mechanisms available for apprentices who have been impacted by COVID-19. If you require information or assistance please contact with Tina McCormack on 0459 806 662.
We understand this is a very difficult time for our students and that you may be facing challenges in terms of your health, job, finances, childcare, families, and in fact, everything in day to day life.

Supporting your training
We are developing a range of remote learning options for training delivery.

The Shepparton Library and Bookshop have moved to remote delivery at this time.The library will not be lending any materials out but library services are available via online access, email and phone.
GOTAFE staff and students can access a full range of online resources via the library website www.gotafe.vic.edu.au/library.

Most municipal public libraries including the Wangaratta Public Library is closed until further notice.
