Update 24 March 2020
CEO Message | 24 March 2020
I’m writing with an important update about the COVID-19 situation, at what I know is a difficult time for all of us.
GOTAFE continues to operate, along with all TAFEs in Victoria, as we are considered an essential service.
However, in the interest of public health, from 11:59pm on Tuesday 24 March to Tuesday 14 April we are pausing all on-campus education delivery.
This applies to all students who would ordinarily attend any GOTAFE campus for training.
This has not been a decision that has been made lightly. However, given the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, this pause will enable GOTAFE to prepare for the transition to virtual delivery.
Looking ahead, GOTAFE will follow advice from the government for the most effective way to deliver important education services for our students.
We are currently working with our students to minimise disruption to their education, and will do everything possible to assist them in completing any classes or assessments that may be delayed.
I acknowledge the unprecedented hardship impacting our local communities and want to provide reassurance of GOTAFE’s unwavering support now, and into the future.
There are also significant impacts on many regional businesses and industries, and GOTAFE is actively planning for how we can provide support during this difficult time. In the immediate term, we are working with our suppliers and contractors to facilitate rapid payment and assure them of our continued support.
GOTAFE is doing all that we can to ensure that education delivery can continue during this challenging time. I encourage you to support each other and contact us if you require assistance or information.
