So, what is JobTrainer?
JobTrainer is a joint Commonwealth and State initiative which provides additional funding to increase access to free or low fee training places for young people and job seekers.
If eligible, you can access up to one full qualification and one short course or skill set across a wide range of in-demand industries such as health, construction, agriculture, community services, baking and cookery, financial services, IT and cybersecurity, and beauty services. A few important details
If you’re eligible for JobTrainer, you’ll be able to access Free TAFE courses, even if you hold a higher qualification. Students who have previously used their Free TAFE entitlement can enrol in a second Free TAFE course under JobTrainer. If you enrol in a Free TAFE Course under JobTrainer, the course is free. If you enrol in any other course under JobTrainer, you will pay no more than 20% of the tuition fee. Please note there may be some out-of-pocket expenses incurred from material and service fees.

Are you eligible?
If you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or asylum seeker, you may be eligible to study under JobTrainer. Additionally, if you are:
- 17 to 24 years old when the course starts; or
- A job seeker of any age, where a job seeker is defined as a person who: holds a valid and current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran’s Gold Card; or is unemployed.
Proof of age or evidence of job seeker status will be required. Students must not have commenced a full qualification under JobTrainer before.

What is the difference between Free TAFE and JobTrainer?
Both Free TAFE and JobTrainer provide funding for eligible students to undertake TAFE training for in-demand jobs.
All Free TAFE courses are also on the JobTrainer courses list. If you enrol in a Free TAFE Course under JobTrainer, the course is free. If you enrol in any other course under JobTrainer, you will pay no more than 20% of the fee.
Students can only enrol in one full qualification under JobTrainer. However, students who have previously used their Free TAFE entitlement can enrol in a second Free TAFE course under JobTrainer.

If you enrol in a Free TAFE Course under JobTrainer, the course is free. If you enrol in any other course under JobTrainer, you will pay no more than 20% of the tuition fee. TAFEs may charge you other fees, such as student services fees or materials fees that you will have to cover yourself.

When does JobTrainer start and finish?
You can enrol in a course under JobTrainer right now! JobTrainer is expected to continue until December 2021, so make sure you enrol in your course/s before then.
Can apprentices and trainees study under JobTrainer?
Apprentices and school-based apprentices are not eligible for JobTrainer. Trainees completing a non-school-based JobTrainer traineeship are eligible if they fulfil the age and/or jobseeker criteria.
If I do a course under JobTrainer, will I get a job?
JobTrainer courses are in areas where there are likely to be more jobs in the future, although we can't guarantee a job at the end of your course.
