Mailing Advantage, Melbourne

When direct mail specialists Mailing Advantage needed their warehouse staff accurately trained in forklift operations they sought assistance from Goulburn Ovens TAFE.

Although Mailing Advantage could have chosen a metropolitan training organisation they decided on GOTAFE because of the flexibility of training and awareness of the institute’s programs.

GOTAFE trainer Brian Parker spent a Saturday in Melbourne at the company’s business operations in Ringwood taking eight staff through detailed forklift training and licensing requirements.

The hands-on course conducted in their workplace meant the company didn’t have to close operations to attend training elsewhere. Most importantly, the training was relevant to the specific workplace requirements of Mailing Advantage.

Mailing Advantage Sales Manager, Carolyn Simpson described the GOTAFE course as ‘excellent’ saying the training and knowledge imparted to Mailing Advantage was ‘above and beyond expectation’.

The impact on the company has been tangible. ‘Staff are coming up to us with ideas for improving systems and processes and awareness of safety issues is very high.’ The training also had the side effect of improving team spirit and comradeship amongst the participants.
