I found out about the new GOTAFE courses in Beauty Services as I was entering Year 12. I realised through VCAL, I could continue studying my Year 12 as well as completing a Certificate III in Beauty Services. The Certificate III allowed me to get a head start on my dream of getting into Specialist Make up.
The experience gained from working on real clients was great, and I also got to complete work placement which gave me an inside view of what it would be like to work in a salon.
I’m now in Melbourne studying the Diploma of Specialist Makeup with Swinburne University. In 2011 I completed the Diploma of Beauty Therapy with Vic Uni. It’s a 12 month course, but through the Certificate III at GOTAFE I had completed nearly half of the subjects, which gave me more time to focus on some of the harder and more intense course work, like anatomy and physiology. Doing Certificate III in Beauty Services at GOTAFE has made my pathway to a career in beauty that much easier. I would tell anyone interested in Beauty but still in school to look at all their options, there is a lot out there!
