GOTAFE's Board members come from a range of backgrounds and have a variety of skills.  The Board aims to have members from diverse backgrounds to provide GOTAFE with the skills necessary for quality leadership and good governance.

 

Michael Tehan (Chair)

Lawyer
Tehan George & Co

Michael has served on the GOTAFE Board since 1997.  He is a senior partner at Tehan George & Co., a legal firm operating in Euroa and Seymour. Michael is also a former local government commissioner. He has skills in legal matters, local government, audit, regional development, strategic planning, community networking and development, tourism and hospitality, and education and training. Michael has a Bachelor of Laws and is a notary public.
 
 

Lisbeth Long (Deputy Chair)

General Manager
Granite Ranges Estate

Lisbeth has a Bachelor in Economics and extensive experience in education and training, governance, corporate management, finance, law, organisation development, risk management and strategic planning.  Lisbeth is a former board member of the Technical Education Centre (TEC) Wangaratta Industry Reference Group, Wangaratta Unlimited Economic Advisory Board, La Trobe University Regional Advisory Board and the Rural City of Wangaratta Tourism Advisory Board.
 
 

Adam Furphy (Deputy Chair)

Adam has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).  His firm, J.Furphy and Sons is a fifth generation manufacturing business based in Shepparton. Adam has experience with apprenticeships and industry participation in vocational education. He also has experience in business development and business to business relationship management.  Adam is presently chairman of the La Trobe University Shepparton Campus Regional Advisory Board, Chairman of the Scott Peoples Foundation and a Trustee of the Shepparton Mechanics Institute.
 
 

Peter Quinn

Peter has an Executive MBA and is a Churchill Fellow.  He is a member of the Australian Property Institute, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a past president of the Institute of Water Administration.
 

 

Christopher McPherson

Chris is a past president and life member of the Victorian Country Press Association, a past president and life member of the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association, a past president of Country Press Australia and chairman of Country Press Cooperative Company Limited. He was a councillor of the Melbourne College of Printing and Graphic Arts from 1990 until it became part of RMIT in 1994. Chris is also a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 
 

Geoffrey Oliver

Geoff is the owner of a retail business in Benalla and Chairman of Associated Retailers Pty, a national retail purchasing group. He is a former local government chief commissioner and a former mayor of the Benalla Rural City, having served 16 years as a councillor. Geoff is chairman of the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre (BPACC) Board and a board member of Regional Development Victoria and Australia (Hume Region). Geoff has skills in regional development, particularly in the areas of arts and theatre, business management, community networking, local government, education and training, and marketing.

 
 


Rebecca Woolstencroft

Rebecca is a chartered accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce.  She is presently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and a past director of GV Health. Her expertise includes strategic business development plans for small and medium sized businesses, working with business owners to develop business and personal goals, and setting actions for goals to ensure their achievement.
