Agriculture courses for 2010
The GOTAFE Agriculture department is offering a range of programs and ways to study in 2010. Start your career or gain recognition for your current skills.
Advanced Diploma of Agriculture
This 2.5 year full time course is suitable for school leavers and people with an interest in Agriculture and related areas. The course includes industry and vocational placement to enhance theoretical skills and provides management level skills.
Topics include:
- Financial Management
- Resource Management
- Crop and Pasture Management
- Livestock Management
- Human Resources
Certificate IV in Agriculture
This one year full time course (first year of Advanced Diploma) is suitable for school leavers and people with an interest in Agriculture and related areas. You will gain a qualification to enhance job prospects within the industry at a supervisory level. The course provides a strong practical base to work within the industry or go onto further study.

- Farm Skills
- Livestock
- Crops and Pastures
- Resources
- Finance
- Communication
Part Time Study
GOTAFE offers part time study for all levels from Certificate II (for those with no industry experience) to Advanced Diploma for current industry participants wanting to enhance their skills. Part time study involves attendance at up to 15 one day workshops per year depending on the units selected.
Trainees
Registered trainees complete training in a series of 2-3 blocks on campus supplemented with on the job and online training. You can enrol at Certificate II level (School Based Apprentice), Certificate III or Certificate IV. Employers of trainees may be eligible for incentive payments for employing a trainee (contact your nearest Australian Apprenticeship Centre for more information).
Short Courses
GOTAFE also offer specialist training in the areas of:
- Chemical Use
- Tractor operations
- Quad Bike operations
- Fencing
- OHS
- Irrigation
Skill Recognition
Skills Recognition is available for current industry participants who through industry experience, or previous study, have skills and knowledge relating to their industry sector but have no formal qualification. Skills recognition enables participants to gain a formal qualification that can be used for advancement within their current workplace, ability to seek alternative employment, or simply a sense of accomplishment.
Courses are held at the William Orr Campus in Shepparton.
