Performing Arts Open Day
Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) will be conducting an Open Day for Performing Arts programs running in 2010 on Sunday 6th September, 2009.
The Open Day will be held at the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre (BPACC). Registrations will commence from 10:00am, and the day is scheduled to conclude at 5:00pm.
The Open Day will consist of a tour of the Benalla campus and BPACC, which is conveniently located on the Institute's grounds.
Workshops will be conducted throughout the day, involving Dance and Acting classes. Dance workshops will be conducted by world class dance performers and choreographers, including sample classes of Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Voice training.
There will be two acting workshops, each held over three hours, providing an overview of theatre and TV acting. Participants will be provided with a DVD of their performance.
GOTAFE Performing Arts programs are now into the second successful year of operation. Students are taught by entertainment industry professionals, most of whom continue performing throughout the year to maintain their skill, expertise and knowledge.
GOTAFE Performing Arts students have already begun reaping the benefits of studying with GOTAFE. Last year, one student successfully made it into the auditions of "So you Think You Can Dance", and another was accepted into the University of Ballarat to study Performing Arts at a Bachelor level.
GOTAFE Performing Arts students are well prepared for an all rounded career in entertainment. All students get to be involved in excursions to the city, in which they get to meet some of the industry greats, as well as seeing first hand the high calibre of performing. Students also work together as a team to organise the now annual Performing Arts talent quests. This enables the students to not only become seasoned performers, but to also ensure they are competent in setting up, live production, promoting and organising performances.
GOTAFE provides a stimulating and supportive environment in which students can display their experience and potential in the Performing Arts.
GOTAFE also extends the invitation to Dance and Drama teachers, to take part in a conducted tour of GOTAFEs first class performing facilities, and to also attend an information workshop on courses offered in 2010.
The minimum age for individuals to participate is 16 years. The tour and registration will commence at 10:00am.
