City students get Agriculture experience

Several students from inner city Melbourne undertaking the secondary school based Certificate II in Agriculture course were recently provided with hands on experiences of the Agriculture industry.

The students stayed at the William Orr Campus in Shepparton over the July school holidays to complete practical training in livestock and animals. Course coordinator, Robyn Richards, said the students were thrilled with the opportunity to gain some practical farm skills and are keen to come back in September school holidays for the next practical training session.

"The students are keen on careers in Agriculture but living in inner Melbourne do have the same access to farm experiences that country students have," said Ms Richards.

The students are completing the two year VETiS program while undertaking their VCE.
