Experience life as a surveyor

Secondary school students interested in a career outdoors are invited to experience a day in the life of a surveyor on Friday 15 May.

If you want a job that could take you around the world or want to work with satelite and imaging technology then this is your opportunity to get the inside knowledge on this exciting career.

Surveying is not just about planning roads and subdivisions for new housing estataes but could include mapping the ocean floor, predicting earthquakes and investigating crime scenes.

You will have the opportunity to work with the latest surveying equipment including GPS, levels, LISCAD software, total stations and optical theodolites and you can talk to surveyors about their career.

The day will be held at the William Orr Campus, Shepparton from 9.30am - 3.00pm and completing the day's activities puts you in the draw to win an iPod.

The cost is $10 and participants need to bring a hat, sunscreen and lunch.

For more information contact the Shepparton TEC on 1300 GOTAFE (1300 468 233).
